How StoryKind works for teachers

Teachers use StoryKind for differentiated independent reading without creating student logins. Parents keep the accounts and join your class with a code. Each child still reads a story matched to their own Lexile level and interests.

After approval (usually within two business days), you open the Teacher Dashboard to share a class code, assign optional genre themes, and review Lexile and comprehension across the class. Assignments spend the family's remaining stories — paid plans allow three per day per child.

  • No student emails or separate student passwords
  • Parents consent before classroom sharing
  • Class analytics for Lexile, comprehension, and reading activity
  • School DPAs and privacy detail live on the Trust centre

Accounts, class codes, and story allowance

Parents own every child account. A teacher never creates a student login. After approval you share a class code; parents join from My Children so consent stays with the family.

When you assign a story, StoryKind uses that family's remaining stories. Paid family plans allow three new stories per day per child. Free trial accounts outside the teacher flow still have a three-story lifetime trial.

You can review Lexile, comprehension, and reading activity across the class without storing student emails. School DPA requests go to [email protected]. Classroom walkthroughs live in the Help Centre.

Class code and story allowance

After approval you open the Teacher Dashboard and copy a class code. Parents enter that code from My Children so consent stays with the family. You never create student emails or passwords. Each child still reads at their own Lexile level and interests.

Assigning a story uses that family's remaining stories. Paid plans allow three new stories per day per child, resetting at midnight UTC. Free trial accounts outside the teacher flow still have a three-story lifetime trial. If a family hits the daily cap, they can buy a story pack under Settings.
